More than thirty thousand businessmen and government officials from 39 countries and regions are gathering in Northeast China's Changchun city to explore new investment opportunities there.

They will participate in the first Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo held in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin province, on Friday.

The expo aims to establish cooperation platforms for investment, display the image of the region and push the region's burgeoning economy.

Northeast Asia includes Northeast China, Japan, Korea, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Mongolia and Far East Area of Russia.

In 2004, the total volume of import and export trade between China and the other five Northeast Asian countries constitutes nearly 25 percent of China's total foreign trade volume.
