From May 29 to 31, 2000, Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the WPK and Chairman of the National Defense Commission, paid a visit to China.

From October 22 to 26, 2000, General Chi Haotian, Vice Chairman of the Military Commission of the CPC Standing Committee, State Councillor cum Minister of National Defense, led a high-ranking military delegation to visit the DPRK.

From January 15 to 20, 2001, Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the WPK and Chairman of the National Defense Commission, paid a visit to China.

From March 20 to 24, 2001, Zeng Qinghong, Alternate Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, Member of the Secretariat and Head of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, led a CPC delegation to visit the DPRK.

From July 9 to 13, 2001, Jiang Junyun, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and Vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, led a Chinese goodwill delegation to visit the DPRK.

From July 10 to 14, 2001, Kim Yoon Hyuk,Secretary General of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, led a DPRK goodwill delegation to visit China.

From September 3 to 5, 2001, Jiang Zemin, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC and President of China, paid a visit to the DPRK.

From May 6 to 10, 2002, Jia Qinglin, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, led a CPC delegation to visit the DPRK.

From October 15 to 19, 2002, Yang Hyung Sup,Vice-President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, led a DPRK state delegation to visit China.
