Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Vice Foreign Minister

  On March 1, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with visiting Vice Foreign Minister Ri Kil Song of the Democratic People's Public of Korea (DPRK).

  Wang Yi expressed that China and the DPRK are linked by mountains and rivers. It is China's consistent stance to consolidate and develop China-DPRK traditional friendship. China is willing to work with the DPRK to enhance communication and understanding to advance a healthy and stable development of bilateral relations. Wang Yi reiterated China's principle and position on the Korean Peninsula issue. It is hoped that all relevant parties could seize the opportunities, resolve challenges, contain the situation and make new efforts in realizing the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and building a peace mechanism on the Korean Peninsula.

  Ri Kil Song noted that DPRK-China friendship is the common wealth for both countries. The DPRK is willing to make joint efforts with China to further develop bilateral relations, and stands ready to conduct in-depth communication on the Korean Peninsula situation with China.

  During Ri Kil Song's visit in China, Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin and Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou held talks with him respectively.
