The Third Meeting of China–DPRK Joint Committee on Border Issues Held in Pyongyang

  From October 25 to 26, 2016, the third meeting of the China–Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Joint Committee on Border Issues was held in Pyongyang. Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin and Vice Foreign Minister Pak Myong Guk of the DPRK, who are chief representatives of the joint committee of the two countries, respectively led a delegation to the meeting. Representatives of public security, environmental protection, transportation, water conservancy, national defense, ports and other departments as well as relevant local government representatives of both countries attended the meeting.

  During the meeting, both sides reviewed and summarized the implementation of the China-DPRK Land Border Management System Agreement after the second meeting of the joint committee, and exchanged in-depth views on such border-related issues as law enforcement and control in border areas, construction of cross-border infrastructure, cooperation in border areas and port opening, reaching relevant consensus. The DPRK spoke highly of China's great assistance to the DPRK in the process of disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction after the flood in the Tumen River. Both sides said that they will continue to make good use of the joint committee, strengthen communication and coordination, and jointly safeguard peace and stability in border areas.

  Both sides also exchanged views on bilateral relations and other issues.
