PYONGYANG, May 9 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) this year have completed a series of maintenance projects for historic relics and remains, the official news agency reported on Wednesday.

The maintenance projects included reinforcement of construction, painting works and other projects for refreshing the historic sites, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

In North Hwanghae Province in central-west of DPRK, the local authority completed colors of 38 historical sites and improved 33 km of roads leading to the sites, said the KCNA.

Furthermore, more than 20,000 trees of good species were planted in famous Mt. Jongbang, the KCNA said, adding that 27 historic relics in Sohung County were rearranged and 17.8 km of ditches were mended to prevent them from being damaged by flood.

As a good example among these maintenance works, the KCNA especially described the 1500-year old Anguk Temple in South Phyongan Province now "looks hoary" after pillars and large beams being repaired.
