On the afternoon of March 23, 2005, Chairman Jia Qinglin of the Chinese People's Political and Consultative Conference (CPPCC) met in the Great Hall of the People with DPRK Premier Pak Bong-ju.
Jia said China-DPRK friendship has witnessed continuous new developments in recent years. General Secretary Hu Jintao and General Secretary Kim Jong-il have reached important consensus on bilateral relations and many issues of common concern. It is in the common interests of both parties to consolidate and develop China-DPRK friendship. China would like to work with the DPRK to uplift China-DPRK friendly and cooperative relations to a new level in light of the requirements of the new situations in the new period.
Pak indicated it is a firm policy for the DPRK to carry on and develop DPRK-China friendship. He spoke highly of China's friendly policies toward the DPRK, saying the DPRK would like to work with China to make unswerving efforts to promote DPRK-China friendship created by the older generations of leaderships of the two countries.
