PYONGYANG, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Choe Ryong Hae, secretary of the Central Committee of the Worker's Party of Korea (WPK), said Tuesday the country and the party will cherish and develop its friendship with China for generations.

Choe made the remarks during a meeting at Mansudae Assembly Hall with a Chinese labor union delegation headed by Zhang Mingqi, vice president of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions.

Choe said the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and China are friendly neighbor countries. The traditional friendship between the two countries was created and fostered by the two countries' old leaders and has been developed and consolidated under the deep care of the two countries' leaders, he said.

To cherish and develop the DPRK-China friendship through the generations is the unchangeable position of the DPRK party and government, Choe said.

Zhang said the development of the China-DPRK friendship has created the foundation and necessary conditions to further cooperation between the two countries' labor unions. He said he hoped to strengthen communications and corporation with the DPRK's labor union.

The Chinese delegation arrived in Pyongyang on Monday at the invitation of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea and will leave the country on April 15.
