Ambassador Liu Held National Day Reception for Chinese Compatriots

On September 25th, 2006, Liu Xiaoming, the Chinese ambassador to DPRK held a National Day reception for Chinese living in the DPRK. Representative of the overseas Chinese expressed their willingness to contribute their strength and wisdom to the consolidation and development of the Chinese -DPRK friendship.

Ambassador Liu made a speech at the reception. He extended his intimate greetings and festive good wishes to all compatriots residing in DPRK. He said the people in the motherland had never forgotten the compatriots residing overseas. The Chinese diplomacy was "people-oriented", and the Chinese embassy in DPRK would be guided by the principle of "diplomacy should serve the people", work hard for the majority of the compatriots, take care of their work, study and life and protect the legitimate rights and interests of compatriots so that they could lead a happy life and enjoy their careers.

Ambassador Liu emphasized that the Chinese-DPRK friendship was forged and nurtured by the old generation of Chinese and DPRK revolutionaries, and to consolidate and develop the relations of friendly cooperation represented an unswerving policy of the Chinese party and government. Compatriots residing in DPRK were important bridge and bond of such a friendship. He hoped they would contribute to the constant consolidation and development of the China-DPRK friendship with their hard work and wisdom. The ambassador further encouraged the students studying in DPRK to study diligently so as to serve the motherland and play their role in enhancing the Chinese -DPRK friendship.

Liang Zuo Jun, vice chairman of the central committee of the association of Chinese compatriots residing in DPRK said compatriots residing overseas were extremely proud of the new phenomenon featured by social stability, harmony among various ethnic groups, thriving economy and they were full of confidence in the future of the Chinese people and the motherland.

He added China and DPRK were neighbors geographically linked, and compatriots residing in DPRK would not disappoint the people in the motherland. They would abide by the DPRK law self-consciously, live in amity with the DPRK people and as always contribute their wisdom and strength to the consolidation of the China- DPRK friendship and the socialist construction in the motherland and DPRK.
