Chinese painting show opens in Pyongyang to mark anniversary of ties

PYONGYANG, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese painting show opened in Pyongyang on Monday to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China's diplomatic relations with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Nearly 100 works depicting a scenic China and the life of the Chinese people are on display at the Pyongyang People's Cultural Palace. The show runs through Friday.

Jon Yong Jin, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association, said at the opening ceremony that the show would enhance the friendship between the two peoples and strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between the artists of the two countries.

Li Xiaohua, an official of the China Association for International Friendly Contact, expressed hope the show, which is one of the events run under the China-DPRK Friendship Year, "will boost the cultural exchanges and friendship between the two countries."
